The Optimixx: 48 Minutes of Good Vibes for a New Year

Pod #5: Let's kick off 2022 with a mix to inspire the rebellious spirit of optimism.

Tree of Hope, Remain Strong (1946) - Frida Kahlo

Pod #5: We’re supposed to be optimistic when the new year comes, right? But with everything going on in the world, it’s easy to feel like summoning optimism for 2022 would be a joke. So here’s 48 minutes of good vibes, to help you spiritually rebel against the times and inspire hope for tomorrow—featuring some new gems, discoveries, and some rare versions of songs you may already know. And some unfuckwithable classics, because we need those now too.

In 2021, it felt like we lost a new beginning before it started. It was May, vaccines were on the rise, and no variant on the horizon, so life felt like it was turning a corner.

Eight months later, we’re not much closer to a sense of things ending or beginning. And it sort of feels our collective storyline is obscured.

As 2021 ended, some wondered, wait, was this even a year, or was 2021 just a spiritual hangover from 2020?

2022 begins, but do we know how to begin with it?

But, I decided, you know what, in these times, optimism isn’t misplaced. Actually optimism is a radical act. And this is a time when to hope, wish, dream, plan, is rebellious.

Liberty Leading the People (1830) - Eugene Delacroix

The time for optimism, gratitude, joy,..the time to look forward and imagine a future…actually is right now. Not in spite of the conditions we find ourselves, but because of them.

No tracklist, because I’d rather you just hit play and feel the feels. Happy 2022.

**Shoutout to my wife and life partner Lauren for everything you are and do.**
